BOND EXPORT EXCLUSIVE NEW RELEASES - NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2012
DUB IRATOR 7" 45 RPM
JL-001 - DAVE ROBINSON - ALLIGATOR TEARS (AKA SIT & CRY)
JL-023 - DAVE ROBINSON - IF YOU GIVE TO ME (AKA RUBY & DIAMOND)
JL-024 - HORTENSE ELLIS - JAH MYSTERIOUS WORKS
New releases in the ongoing Jah Life productions reissue series. These heavy early '80s tunes were produced via the fruitful partnership of Jah Life and Junjo Lawes, and have all been unavailable since their original release. All three were released as mini-discomixes on Jah Life's "Family Album" compilation LP, as well as on UK 12-inch singles and one JA 7-inch single. Again the unbeatable combination of the Roots Radics at Channel 1 studio, and the hard mixing of Scientist at King Tubby's studio and great vocals put these near the top of the heap for early '80s roots reggae. We are also pleased to point out that the dub mix on the B-side of "Alligator Tears" is a previously unreleased dubplate mix!

Four more fantastic '70's roots tunes produced by our talented friend, the late great Ossie Hibbert. Originally released on various labels in Jamaica, New York and London, these songs really capture the heavy roots vibes of the times, but also truly showcase the talents of Ossie Hibbert as producer, arranger, and mixing engineer. Now re-released on two of Ossie's signature labels, the re-emergence of these tunes is another piece of Ossie's musical legacy, with more still to come!

BE-018 - JUNIOR REID / LITTLE JOHN - CHANTING (DISCOMIX) / THE MORE WE ARE TOGETHER (AKA PRAISING HIS MAJESTY) 12"
BE-019 - BARRINGTON LEVY - JUGGLING SOLDIER (DISCOMIX) / JUGGLING VERSION 12"
Bond Export kicks off our reissue program of Delroy Wright's Live & Learn label with three total heaters from the mid 1980's. Delroy's label released some of the finest reggae of the early-mid '80s, including a lot of really heavy stuff in the 'live digital' style we are known to favor. And while Delroy has done a great job of keeping his large catalog of LP's available in the past two decades, some of the fantastic singles he released have been woefully unavailable. So we're stepping in to bring the best of them back. First up is Winston Hussey's "Ghetto Man Problem", the title cut from one of his two LP's on Live & Learn. Only ever released on 45 in JA, backed of course by accompanying killer dub. Next up is a pair of wicked 12"s. First, the discomix of Junior Reid's "Chanting", the killer first version of the tune which he re-did shortly after with Black Uhuru as "Dread in the Mountain." This is one of Junior's best tunes, and that's saying a lot! "Chanting" is now backed with Little John's awesome cut "The More We Are Together", known to some as "Praising His Majesty." This was produced by Delroy along with his former spar Junjo Lawes, and was played on dubplate in the day by Jah Shaka. The rhythm was also used for the great "Hell a Go Pop" by Cultural Roots, produced by Junjo. Lastly for this batch, our other 12" is Barrington Levy's "Juggling Soldier", one of the great weedman tunes of all time and on one of our favorite heavy rhythms of the mid '80s. The A-side is a discomix, while the B-side is a full version side.
JAH MUSIC 7" 45 RPM
CC1307 - TA-TEACHER LOVE (AKA SENYA) / THE REBEL FORCE - ROOTS MAN / MIX GONE (VERSION) 7"
AB3123 - WAILERS BAND - HIGHER FIELD MARSHALL / NO PARSHALL 7"
Two more shots from the vaults of Clive Chin and the Impact!/Randy's camp. First, one of the best female roots singers ever, Olive "Senya" Grant, or 'Ta-Teacher Love' as she was known on this release, doing 'Roots Man.' Produced at Randy's by Clive Chin & Family Man, and backed by the Wailers band, mid '70s roots hardly gets better than this. Backed with a killer dub called 'Mix Gone' credited to 'The Rebel Force', a name briefly used by Family Man at the time. Next, an interesting record, is the Wailers Band doing 'Higher Field Marshall' and 'No Parshall.' Family Man and Clive Chin were behind this one, which was released back in the day via Randy's only in tiny-quantity as a white label pre-release. Now, it's well known that Family Man, along with a Roland Drum Machine, created the rhythm then called 'Chim Cherie' which was later morphed into the now immortal 'Billy Jean' rhythm as employed by Shinehead for the African Love label. Well around the same time, Fams cut some other tunes using this same machine, including Keithus I's "Dreadlocks I" (available from DKR!), and this one, "Higher Field Marshall/No Parshall." For this heavy instrumental 2-sider, Fams blows melodica over the A-side and dubs out the B-side.

JL-006 - FLICK WILSON - SCHOOL DAYS (DUB IRATOR / JAH LIFE LP)
JL-012 - BARRY BROWN - JAH JAH DISCIPLE (JAH LIFE 7")
Our next batch of Jah Life reissues is another great one. Leroy Smart's "Warrior" is one of the best cuts we've heard on the often-versioned "Green Bay Killing" rhythm. This heavy version was released only on the "Jah Life Smashing Superstars" compilation LP back in the day, with the dub unreleased and run on dubplate only by Jah Life, Volcano, and some others. The anthemic plea for peace chorus of "I and I no warrior, I and I no tribalist, I and I nuh fire no gun" reminds us of the Enforcer's "Pay Them". On the flip side of "Warrior" is "Thief in the Night", Leroy's vocal on the rhythm well-known for Barrington Levy's "Shaolin Temple." This tune was previously only released on his Jah Life produced LP, "Too Much Grudgefulness." Along with the vocal there is a wicked Scientist dub of the rhythm, as previously released on the rare Jamaican issue of the Scientist "Big Showdown" LP on Jah Guidance. Next up is the Flick Wilson "School Days" album. This has long been one of our all-time favorite LP's through it's killer combination of super heavy Roots Radics rhythms, wild Scientist mixing, and the Flick's unique singing, often with falsetto. Never widely available and only ever released in NYC, it's now deservedly reissued. Lastly for this batch, a monster previously unreleased vocal & dub outing from Barry Brown, riding the "Shaolin Temple" rhythm. Again, this vocal and dub were run on dubplate back in the day by Jah Life's sound in NY and Junjo's Volcano sound in Jamaica, now released for the first time ever.

Clive Chin needs no introduction as a producer, a man with nuff classics in his catalog, and plenty big tunes rightfully available. But the Bond Export crew always comes with a list of tune that must come a road, and that list surely includes plenty from Clive. So here's our first batch of exclusive releases from the vaults of Clive Chin, straight from master tape. Freddie McKay's "Won't Get Away" is the next cut to Dennis Brown's immortal "Foot of the Mountain", produced by Clive & his friend Eddie Wong for Eddie's Downtown label. Clive reissued this tune 10+ years ago and it's been sadly long unavailable since, making it's grand return now, alongside several other great Freddie McKay tunes available from DKR & Bond Export. Next and similarly, Peter Broggs' "Vampire" aka "Vank Out" was also reissued some years back, but was available all too briefly, gone in the blink of an eye. Produced by original Randy's Record Mart man, the late Morris "CB" Edwards for his Quarter Mile label, this is Brogg's first ever tune, originally released under his right name of Henry James. High caliber '70s roots, finally available again. Last but certainly not least for this batch, "Wolf in Sheep Clothing" by the Upright Foundation. This was a short-lived group featuring two-thirds of the Gaylads, and this phenomenal piece of Burning Spear-esque roots was produced by Clive for his Wisdom Sounds label in the mid '70s. Reissued for the first time here, this tune is totally infectious and should go straight into the '70s roots harmony classics canon.
AND
Pressed exclusively for Bond Export, directly from master tape, one of the best early roots tunes, from Harry Mudie's Afro label. N. Elliott and Noel Bailey's "People Let Love Shine" was released in 1972, and its somber but positive tone and killer organ sound make it a masterpiece of early roots. This tune is also commonly known by the name "Morning Star", as it was released in Jamaica with this title on the Globe imprint. Here backed with "Too Much" by the Jet Sets, a wicked instrumental on a similar rhythm.

Jah Life reissue series - Part Two!
King Kong's "Agony & Pain" has long been one of our favorite Jah Life tunes, released only on JA 7" in 1987, well-heavy in a sound killing style. To compliment this we also bring you one of the best unreleased tunes we have had the pleasure of uncovering. "Come Down" was made in the same sessions as Kong's massive "He Was a Friend" (reissued by DKR a while back on 12", and still available!), and never released until now. Pure uptempo digital fire! Montgomery's "Sensimela" is great one-away digital, coming from a fertile period in Jah Life's history when he was producing many young and upcoming singers. This one only ever saw release on a now rare Life Time 12", now back out on 7", and showing again just how many killer one-off digital tunes are lurking out there. Mikey General's 12" is a killer double sider, both with dubs. Awesome heavy mid 80's style. "Walker John" has a sound not unlike the great mid-80s material on the Tasha label, while "Singer With the Flavor" is a soundboy tune, complete with rewind, on a heavy take of the much-loved stalag rhythm. Finally, a massive unreleased tune from Flick Wilson, cut at Channel 1 around 1984. The backing band sounds a lot like the Gifted Roots Band who were resident at Channel 1 around this time. We are big fans of Flick and feel he was really under-recorded, so unearthing this gem was a pleasure, killer vocal and a rock-hard riddim.

Conroy Smith is one of our favorite artists of the '80s, a man with nuff classics in the digital era. One of his best and rarest tunes is this one, "Murder Commit", only issued on a hideously rare US-press 45 on Ed Robinson's MoBay Records label. '80s digital sound killing tunes do not get much better than this. Check the video on youtube of Conroy performing this song live at Sting in 1988!
Round two of Chopper releases from Digikiller! Like any respectable dancehall fan, we love a good version excursion, so before we move on to different riddims from the Chopper crew (more big tune soon come!), we figured we'd finish out the run on the two great riddims we already touched on. The late Alton Black was a part of the NY Chopper crew, and one of NY's most popular artists when he cut "Reunited" on Chopper's killer lick of 'billie jean' now well known via Don Hickey's "Cooperate." All fans of the 'lovers digi' micro-genre (ha!) take note, this one should be near the top of your lists. Next, the rugged 'rasta cowboy' riddim. Courtney Melody jumped on it, a rare outing for the artist on a full live-band Channel 1-cut riddim! But "Watching You" shows how Mr. Melody can ride this kind of riddim just as well as ever. To the best of our knowledge neither of these tunes was ever released until they appeared on an obscure CD compilation in the late 90s, long after being cut. So here they are now, as meant to be, on vinyl 45 with dubs!
First releases from a brand new and exclusive Jah Life reissue series, which will feature rare tunes, previously unreleased tunes, and previously unreleased dubplate mixes. Carlton Livingston's "Itch It Up Operator" is a heavy sound man tune, never widely available on single. The B-side dub on this one is a wild previously unreleased dubplate mix! This twelve-inch from Mr. Levy is some bad bad mid '80s Barrington on one of the most killer licks of the 'revolution' (aka 'black roses'/'here i come') riddim...always hard to find! Two different mixes on this 12", vocal & dub on each side. The next Dub Irator twelve is back to back heat, and two of the rarest tunes from the Jah Life catalog. Jug Head's tune is a 1984 roots heater, Ossie D & Stevie G's tune is late '80s one-away digital fire, and both sides with dubs! On to the Wayne Jarrett LP, this is simply put one of the best LP's of the 1980's, unavailable since its original release 30+ years ago! filled with a killer selection of some of the best and hardest Roots Radics riddims, this is a true start to finish classic album.
